Times Fashion Show

The M.Des first-year students of ESEDS School of Design, in collaboration with Techno India University, recently unveiled their much-anticipated collection “Khonoma” at the prestigious Calcutta Times Fashion Week on 8th of March 2025 at The Westin, Kolkata. Drawing inspiration from Khonoma, Asia’s first Green Village in Nagaland India, the collection celebrated the themes of resilience, transformation, and renewal. Once a land ravaged by human activity, Khonoma has been revitalized through nature’s healing power and the unyielding spirit of its community. The garments beautifully depicted this journey of loss, hope, and revival, encapsulating the essence of restoration. Renowned Tollywood Actress Ms. Trina Saha graced the runway as the showstopper along with an accomplished Entrepreneur Mr. Meghdut Roy Chowdhury, adding star power to the symbolic presentation. This collection was a stunning tribute by the Fashion Students of ESEDS – TIU, to the enduring synergy between environment and community.

Hulladek - Fashion Show

“Trash Couture” is a groundbreaking fashion collection created by ESEDS’ second-semester B.Des students and the diploma batch, in collaboration with Techno India University. The collection challenges traditional fashion by using unconventional materials such as e-waste, garbage bags, plastic, and scrap metal etc transforming them into high-fashion garments. Inspired by the urgent need for environmental consciousness, this collection explores sustainability through the lens of creative upcycling.

“Trash Couture” is not just fashion—it’s a powerful statement about the future of style, where sustainability meets creativity to redefine luxury and waste.

The collection was elegantly showcased at the Hulladek Honors 2025, held at the iconic Dhana Dhanya Stadium. The event radiated creativity and innovation, highlighting a remarkable fusion of sustainability and design.

AMI arts Festival 2024

On 7th December 2024, the ESEDS School of Design came alive with colour, creativity, and conscious celebration. In a powerful collaboration between AMI Festival by Kolkata Centre for Creativity and ESEDS, the event offered a vibrant, day-long tribute to the mystical beauty and fragile ecology of the Sunderbans—one of the world’s most unique and endangered ecosystems.

From the moment the day began, attendees were immersed in an inspiring journey through Bengal’s cultural and environmental heartland. The festival opened with an award-winning feature film – The land of eighteen tides and one Goddess, shedding light on the co-sustaining relationship between the people and the mangrove forests of the Sunderbans.

Workshops brought hands-on creativity to the forefront:
A printmaking workshop, inspired by the lore of Bonbibi and mentored by internationally acclaimed artist Mr. Saibal Karmakar, invited participants to channel the spirit of the land into art.
The Kantha stitching workshop, held in collaboration with underprivileged children from Don Bosco Ashalayam, touched hearts and fostered a beautiful exchange of stories, skills, and smiles.

The grounds buzzed with energy as visitors explored an exhibition of sustainable food and lifestyle products, celebrating local artisans and eco-conscious living.

The highlight of the evening was an experiential fashion show, where storytelling met sustainable design. Models gracefully walked the runway draped in textiles and silhouettes inspired by delta rivers, mangroves, the Royal Bengal tiger, and the resilient spirit of Bonbibi.
